Propriety of ‘92 "Presidential Roundtable" Briefings by Former "SecDef" Questioned Government Watchdog Pursues Freedom Of Information Act Documents In Review of Bush Administration Campaign Finance Practices (Washington, D.C.) Republican Vice Presidential Candidate, and former Bush Administration Secretary of Defense Richard Cheney hosted Republican Party political contributors at a Penatgon briefing held August 19, 1992. According to recently revealed reports, members of the "Presidential Roundtable," whose minimum qualifying contribution was reportedly $5000, received briefings by Cheney at the Pentagon. Judicial Watch Chairman Larry Klayman stated, "Whether it's the Lincoln Bedroom or a Pentagon briefing room -- Democrat or Republican -- Judicial Watch will continue to serve the American people by investigating and, if necessary, pursuing allegations of government corruption and misconduct. We do not know if the allegations concerning Cheney are true or not; but we would be derelict to our oath to be non-partisan if we overlooked them." "This is the difference between Judicial Watch and many other groups; we stand on principle, not politics," Klayman added. |
