MEDIA ADVISORY - E-MAIL HEARING ON PRESERVATION OF PRESIDENTIAL RECORDS IN CLINTON-GORE WHITE HOUSE
Court Concerned that E-Mail Could Fall Into “Black Hole”
This Has Been Clinton-Gore Administration’s “Delay Strategy”
Today, the Honorable Royce C. Lamberth will hold a hearing at 2:00 p.m. to determine the fate of missing E-mail which, under the Presidential Records Act, would ordinarily be sent to the National Archives after January 20. The Court is considering whether to continue what is, in effect, an injunction barring transfer of the records, pending its disposition of matters relating to the E-mail scandal. The E-mail scandal arose in the context of Judicial Watch’s $90 million Filegate class-action lawsuit, where a request is pending to depose Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-NY).
All members of the press and media are invited.
Date: Wednesday, January 17, 2001
Time: 2:00 p.m.
Place: Federal Courthouse
Third & Constitution Avenue, NW
Washington, DC
Courtroom: 21 – 4th Floor
A press conference will follow on the courthouse steps after the hearing.
