JUDICIAL WATCH FORCES CLINTONS TO PAY FOR GIFTS
Senate Ethics Complaint Was Only Legal Action Standing in Clintons Way to Complete Heist
(Washington, DC) Judicial Watch, Inc., the public interest law firm that investigates and prosecutes government abuse and corruption, had filed a Senate Ethics complaint on January 26, 2001 (see www.JudicialWatch.org), over Hillary Clinton’s illegal receipt of gifts upon her departure from The White House. Little discussed in the elite media was the fact that she was not allowed to receive gifts over $1,000 in value since the date she declared as a candidate for the Senate on May 16, 2000. This is because Senate Ethics rules incorporate the regulations of the Federal Election Commission.
Accordingly, when the Clintons decided to partially reimburse their donors for Mrs. Clinton’s receipt of gifts back to May 16, 2000, this was because of Judicial Watch’s Senate Ethics complaint.
“Judicial Watch scored yet another victory in its fight against government corruption. Previous Judicial Watch cases resulted largely in the elimination of the first Clinton Legal Defense Fund, the alleged cessation of selling seats on trade missions at the Clinton-Gore Commerce Department, and the withdrawal of the illegal guarantee of Terence McAuliffe for the first house purchase by the Clintons in Chappaqua, New York, among many other successes,” stated Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton.
“We will give the Clintons legal gifts; new lawsuits whenever warranted,” added Judicial Watch Chairman and General Counsel Larry Klayman.
“It is clear their continuing illegal behavior will warrant our attention,” Fitton added.
