WE FIRST RAISED CONCERN!
Bush Administration Decision to Not Sell Aegis Cruisers to Taiwan Creates Appearance of Secret Deal With Red Chinese
Judicial Watch Had Already Commenced Probe To Uncover Facts
(Washington, DC) Judicial Watch, the public interest law firm that investigates and prosecutes government abuse and corruption, was skeptical when the Bush Administration apologized to Communist China during the recent hostage crisis. Based on past experience in several administrations, the United States frequently has “cut” under-the-table deals to save face when Communist aggression is evident. This occurred during the Cuban missile crisis when President Kennedy secretly removed our missiles from Turkey in exchange for Kruschev removing Russian missiles from Cuba, and it has occurred repeatedly since then, such as when we traded arms for hostages with the Ayatollah of Iran. For this reason, over ten days ago Judicial Watch instituted an investigation into whether the Bush Administration gave the Communist Chinese assurances or signals during the recent hostage crisis that it would not sell Aegis cruisers to Taiwan.
These cruisers must be sold at the earliest moment since the Chinese military continues to threaten its island neighbor with a massive buildup of force! The intention of the Communist Chinese is to regain ownership of Taiwan through an invasion, if necessary.
“The American people deserve real answers to the question of whether or not we sold out Taiwan in removing our 24 hostages from the clutches of a Chinese dictatorship. Taiwan, along with other nations, like Israel, are on the front lines of Communist dictatorships and terrorist organizations, and they deserve our full, unwavering and genuine support. In my personal opinion, selling the country outdated weapon systems, as the Bush Administration is now doing, does not fool anyone. It also shows weakness,” stated Judicial Watch Chairman and General Counsel Larry Klayman.
