JUDICIAL WATCH VICTORY -- OLYMPICS CASE SETTLES FAVORABLY
Washington DC Olympics Bid Can Now Proceed
Judicial Watch Client Had Conceived Of Olympics For Nation’s Capital
(Washington, DC) Judicial Watch, the public interest law firm that investigates and prosecutes public abuse and corruption, announced today a major settlement of a case it was prosecuting on behalf of Elizabeth Ganzi. Ms. Ganzi had conceived of and worked to bring the Olympics to Washington and had alleged that she was pushed out of the process by local business leaders, the U.S. Olympic Committee, and former Mayor Marion Barry.
The lawsuit, filed in a Washington, DC court, had named as defendants the Washington-Baltimore Regional Olympic Committee, Marion Barry, and the U.S. Olympic Committee, among others.
“Ms. Ganzi is pleased that she is receiving substantial compensation and an acknowledgment of her key contribution to the Washington DC area Olympic movement. And Judicial Watch, on behalf of the public interest, is pleased that it has contributed to ensuring an open and honest Olympic bidding process, increasing the chances that the nation’s capital will be awarded the Olympics in 2012,” stated Judicial Watch Chairman and General Counsel Larry Klayman.
“Now that this case has been settled in an extremely favorable and lucrative fashion for her, Ms. Ganzi hopes and prays that her dream of the Olympic Games coming to our nation’s capital and the United States will be fulfilled,” added Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton.
Now living in Miami, Ms. Ganzi is resuming her career developing and producing global special events.
