What does the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) have to hide?
FBI Special Agent Robert Wright knows the answer. Which is precisely
why the bureau threatened to fire Special Agent Wright if he appeared,
as scheduled, on FOX News Channel’s The O’Reilly Factor
on March 4. Special Agent Wright opted not to participate in the interview
for fear of losing his job.
"Agent Wright was told he would be charged with insubordination
if he appeared on The Factor,” O’Reilly informed his audience.
"That’s a very disturbing threat."
Special Agent Wright was scheduled to talk about Muslim agent Gamal
Abdel-Hafiz, who refused to tape record conversations with Muslim
terror suspects. "A Muslim does not record another Muslim,"
the agent told supervisors. One of the
terror suspects Hafiz refused to record was tied to Osama bin Laden
and the 1998 bombing of U.S. embassies in Africa. According to multiple
news agencies, this same agent also hindered a probe of University
of South Florida professor Sami al-Arian, who was arrested in February
for funneling money to terrorist organizations.
Special Agent Wright felt Hafiz violated his oath by refusing to
carry out his investigations and complained both to his superiors
and to the national office in Washington, DC. Both sided with Hafiz,
telling Special Agent Wright that he should make a better effort
to "understand" the Muslim agent¹s "perspective."
When Special Agent Wright decided to go public with the truth about
this and other matters pertaining to the FBI’s mishandling
of terrorism investigations, the FBI launched a campaign to silence
him. First, they blocked the publication of a manuscript written
by Special Agent Wright, and then later attempted to prevent him
from meeting with Congressional investigators who were probing the
intelligence failures leading up to September 11. JW is pursuing
a federal lawsuit against the FBI in order to allow Special Agent
Wright the freedom to tell the truth to the American people.
"The FBI has an agent in its midst that shut down an important
investigation into Osama bin Laden because of admitted Muslim sympathies,"
said JW Chairman Larry Klayman. "And now the FBI threatens
retaliation against Special Agent Wright for exposing this lie.
This is a cover up plain and simple. Judicial Watch will get the
truth out."
Special Agent Robert Wright is one of the most knowledgeable people
in the FBI when it comes to terrorism. He is also the only FBI agent
to have seized funds (over $1.4 million) from U.S.-based terrorists
using federal civil forfeiture statutes prior to September 11. Fortunately,
John Vincent, a retired FBI Special Agent of 27 years and the Director
of Judicial Watch’s Midwestern Regional Headquarters in Chicago,
Illinois, appeared on The O’Reilly Factor instead, along with
Judicial Watch’s National Advisor David Schippers. (See Media
