Judicial Watch Obtains Newly Declassified Information from State Department regarding Osama bin Laden

Records Show Clinton Administration Briefed in 1996 on bin Laden Suicide Car Bombing Threat in London

Judicial Watch, the public interest group that investigates and prosecutes government corruption, announced today that it has obtained newly declassified information regarding Osama bin Laden. The State Department had previously redacted this information on documents released to Judicial Watch in August 2005 prompting Judicial Watch's appeal to the Department of State Appeals Review Panel on October 13, 2005. The new information was released by the State Department on August 5, 2008.

According to a document entitled, "Terrorism/Usama bin Ladin: Who's Chasing Whom?" dated July 18, 2006, the Clinton administration was aware of a bin Laden suicide car bombing threat in London: "[redacted] . . . indicated bin Ladin planned to sponsor suicide car bombings against US interests in the UK, in part to punish London for 'submitting' to US pressure to bar his entry into the UK." The information about the terrorist threats to London had previously been redacted.


Judicial Watch Uncovers Triple-Murder Suspect Edwin Ramos’s San Francisco Police Records Revealing “MS-13” Criminal Street Gang

Judicial Watch, the public interest organization that investigates and prosecutes government corruption, announced today that it has obtained San Francisco Police Department (SFPD) records concerning the arrest of illegal alien murder suspect Edwin Ramos. Ramos is currently charged with the June 22, 2008, triple murder of Tony Bologna and his sons Michael and Matthew in San Francisco's Excelsior District.

The SFPD records, obtained by Judicial Watch pursuant to the provisions of the California Public Records Act, identify Ramos, "based on . . . numerous documented contacts" as being an active member of the MS-13 street gang. The records, which document that he is not a U.S. citizen, also show Ramos's previous March 30, 2008, arrest related to weapons and gang charges. San Francisco prosecutors declined to charge Ramos. He was released on April 2, 2008.


Judicial Watch Launches Investigation of Effort to Intimidate Conservatives

Judicial Watch, the public interest group that investigates and prosecutes government corruption, announced today that it is launching an investigation into a nationwide effort by a liberal activist group to intimidate supporters of Republican and conservative causes. According the August 8 edition of The New York Times, Accountable America, a liberal group, plans to send a letter “to confront donors to conservative groups, hoping to create a chilling effect that will dry up contributions…The warning letter is intended as a first step, alerting donors who might be considering giving to right-wing groups to a variety of potential dangers, including legal trouble, public exposure and watchdog groups digging through their lives.
