Prosecutor from Robert Mueller’s team praised Sally Yates for not defending Trump travel ban

A prosecutor who is part of special counsel Robert Mueller’s team praised former Acting Attorney General Sally Yates after she refused to defend the Trump administration’s travel ban, according to an email released Tuesday.

Judicial Watch obtained the email from Andrew Weissman through a lawsuit, along with a slew of emails from other Justice Department officials.

“I am so proud. And in awe. Thank you so much. All my deepest respects,” Weissmann, who was serving as chief of the Criminal Fraud Section, wrote. The email was sent at 9:50 p.m. on Jan. 30, right after Yates was fired by Trump.

The Weissmann email comes after Mueller’s office confirmed one of its investigators, Peter Stzok, was removed from the probe after he sent anti-Trump messages to an FBI lawyer with whom he was having an extramarital affair.
