Preliminary Injunction Motion Will Trigger Early Trial Case Will Set Precedent On All Illegal Gifts Received By Clintons, Such As Legal Defense Fund Monies (Washington, September 28, 1999) Today, Judicial Watch filed a lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia against the banks proposing to finance the Clintons' attempted purchase of a White House-like mansion in New York State, with an illegal $1.35 million loan guarantee by scandal- beleaguered influence peddler Terry McAuliffe, the "top" Democrat fundraiser. McAuliffe was implicated by Nolanda Hill in the illegal sale of seats on taxpayer financed trade missions by the Administration in Judicial Watch's Chinagate lawsuits. In addition to McAuliffe, the lawsuit names Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, and the two banks, Deutsche Bank and Bankers Trust. The lawsuit alleges the illegal transaction damages the banks' reputation and stock value and subjects them to criminal liability. Judicial Watch is seeking a preliminary injunction to restrain the improper transaction, which not only violated the campaign finance laws, but also amounts to an illegal gratuity. "By litigating this illegal bank loan, which is based on an improper gift to the President, Judicial Watch will, in effect, also be litigating the legality (or lack thereof), of other illegal gifts made over the last 6 ½ years, such as the Clintons' legal defense funds. Recently, it was disclosed that 6 more Chinese agents, through Charlie Trie, donated illegal money to the funds and that the Clinton Justice Department sought to cover this up. Accordingly, Judicial Watch, if successful, will set the precedent not only to nullify the illegal loan on the Clintons' mansion, but to have them return all of the illegal legal defense fund monies collected over the years," stated Judicial Watch Chairman Larry Klayman. "There is no place in our democratic society for influence peddlers to line the pockets of presidents and first ladies. This is government corruption of the highest order," Klayman added. |
