PANAMA TO BECOME JUST LIKE "SINGAPORE"
PRESIDENT CARTER BOASTS OF NEW OPERATIONAL OWNERSHIP OF CANAL AND APOLOGIZES FOR UNITED STATES
(PANAMA CITY, PANAMA) Today, at the transfer ceremony of the Panama Canal, attended by Judicial Watch Chairman Larry Klayman and Howard Phillips of the Conservative Caucus - who are in Panama making arrangements to challenge Chinese operational control of the canal - President Jimmy Carter, President Clinton's personal emissary, apologized to the Panamanian people for past U.S. control of the canal, called those who oppose the transfer "demagogues," and boasted that "Panama is now destined to become like Singapore."
"Ironically, with the Chinese now in operational control of the canal - through Hutchinson-Whampoa, a Chinese front company - President Carter's predications are sadly correct. Judicial Watch is pursuing legal recourse to prevent this," stated Judicial Watch Chairman Larry Klayman.
Judicial Watch, on its mission to Panama, produced a full video of President Carter's controversial speech, which it will air in the near future.
