CLINTON STATE OF UNION ADDRESS DESIGNED TO BUY WAY OUT OF CONVICTION BY SENATE

Reminiscent of the Chinagate and campaign finance scandals, where U.S. taxpayer resources, like seats on trade missions and export licenses for high technology, were sold in exchange for political contributions, Bill Clinton has again used public funds to try to influence his political fate. In an unprecedented use of "pork," Clinton offered "mega-goodies" -- at taxpayer expense-- to virtually every special interest group that might support his continuation in office. As if this were not enough, he again mocked his own wife, by mouthing "I love you" in front of a national TV audience.

"A shameless display, such as witnessed last night, knows no equal in the history of American politics. Coupled with his shameless defense before the Senate, orchestrated in part by a lawyer from the White House Counsel's office -- Cheryl Mills -- who herself is subject to investigation for perjury and obstruction of justice, Clinton will pull out all stops to hold onto power," stated Judicial Watch Chairman Larry Klayman.

"Clinton may survive the Lewinsky scandal, but justice will ultimately prevail. The totality of his misconduct in office cannot and will not be overlooked in the courts. Judicial Watch is prosecuting 21 cases concerning the gross illegalities of this Administration, and judges and juries will make the ultimate decision about his legal fate," added Klayman.
