Tripp Withholds Tapes from Judicial Watch Under Claim of Fifth Amendment Privilege (Washington, March 3) Judicial Watch has moved the court to compel production of relevant portions of audiotapes made by Linda Tripp of her conversations with Monica Lewinsky. During Judicial Watch's deposition of Tripp, upon the advice of counsel, she claimed a Fifth Amendment privilege when asked if she had recorded conversations about Filegate with Monica Lewinsky. "Judicial Watch will be interested to hear this evening in the interview between Barbara Walters and Miss Lewinsky, whether Miss Walters will use the opportunity to go beyond Monica's simple knowledge of her sexual dalliances with the President. It is clear that Miss Lewinsky knows much more about illegalities in the Clinton Administration. She is a potential witness in Judicial Watch's Filegate lawsuit." stated Judicial Watch Chairman and General Counsel Larry Klayman. Larry Klayman is a former Justice Department prosecutor and now serves as Chairman and General Counsel of Judicial Watch, a public interest watchdog group. |
