Denies White House Involvement On Hannity and Colmes, But Not Asked About Carville Smear Campaign Continues To Insure Republicans Do Not Resurrect Chinagate and Other Scandals Part of "Ellen Rometsch Strategy" Revealed By Stephanopoulos (Washington, DC-March 24) Yesterday, Larry Flynt was interviewed by Sean Hannity and Alan Colmes of the Fox News show "Hannity & Colmes." Flynt has recently published "The Flynt Report," which is a comprehensive compilation of the dirt his investigators (who work closely with the President's lawyers at Williams & Connolly) have dug up on Republicans. Flynt's crusade to blackmail and destroy Republicans goes hand in hand with the mentality of Filegate, the misuse of government files against Linda Tripp, Kathleen Willey, and others. On ABC's "This Week," George Stephanopoulos described this strategy, early on, as the "Ellen Rometsch Strategy," which, historically speaking, refers to the misuse of FBI files during the Kennedy Administration to blackmail Republicans from investigating the affair of John Kennedy with an East German spy. Based on sources close to Judicial Watch, the public interest watchdog has learned that Flynt is working with Carville, who works out of his and Mary Matalins home on Capitol Hill, with fellow workers. In its Filegate case, Judicial Watch subpoenaed Carville's files, and learned not only that he "targeted" certain key Republicans and others, but also that he keeps detailed files on perceived adversaries, including Judicial Watch Chairman Larry Klayman. Also obtained were taped telephone conversations about the sex lives of investigators. During the interview yesterday evening, Sean Hannity asked Flynt about his ties to The White House, which Flynt unconvincingly denied. However, Hannity never asked about Flynt's ties to Carville, which is the key to unraveling how the smear machine works -- since Carville remains the ringleader. Judicial Watch has asked the Court in its Filegate case for leave to depose Flynt, particularly since his daughter, Tanya, has said that he is in contact with Carville and likely has access to FBI files. "Based on our sources, and the admissions of Flynt's daughter, Larry Flynt is, at a minimum, a key witness in Filegate and, indeed, he may be an actor. Judicial Watch and its clients will not rest until it gets to the bottom of this sordid and serious scandal. In his recent fictional book, All Too Human, even Stephanopoulos concedes that Filegate was the most serious of the Clinton scandals. While I would add Chinagate to the long list of 38 scandals, on this point I cannot disagree with Stephanopoulos," stated Larry Klayman. |
