Justice Department Commits And Covers-up Crimes, and Oversight Committees Only Play Politics Judicial Watch Has Several Lawsuits Against The Justice Department For Its Role in Clinton Scandal Cover-up; What has Congress Done? (Washington, September 7) Today, The Wall Street Journal called for the resignation of Attorney General Janet Reno. The venerable newspaper was correct to do so; indeed Ms. Reno's role in the cover-up of a myriad of Clinton scandals far more serious than Monica Lewinsky is too long to list. And, the incompetence of the Reno Justice Department in other areas is legion. Today, Larry Klayman and Tom Fitton, Chairman and President of Judicial Watch, issued the following joint statement: "For years Judicial Watch has witnessed first-hand the cover-up and deceit of the Clinton Justice Department in our various lawsuits. Now, with the recent revelations about Waco, Congress, as it embarks upon an election period, appears to be waking up from its long post-Monicagate sleep, to again capitalize politically on the recent events. As has been commonplace over the years, Senators and Congressmen go on national Sunday morning talk shows and complain about Janet Reno and her corrupt Justice Department, but when called upon to state whether they want her resignation, only two, Congressman Bob Barr and Senator Phil Gramm, give a straightforward answer. Last Sunday, when asked this question, the Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Orrin Hatch -- the body with the principal duty to oversee and supervise the Justice Department -- literally began to uncontrollably stutter. The common person must ask what do these Senators and Congressman have to fear? Does Reno and her ruthless Justice Department have something on them? If they do not do their duty and quickly call for her resignation, and then impeach her if it is not forthcoming, then they too should be forced to resign." "As a former alumnus of the Justice Department, I am saddened at how this once great institution has been disgraced under the Clinton-Gore Administration. Because of its politics, inaction and cover-up, all Americans are at great risk," added Klayman. |
