Judicial Watch Presents Awards to Chinagate's Johnny Chung, Matt Drudge, Clarence Thomas and Others at 5th Anniversary Conference in Pasadena, Oct. 23 (Washington, D.C.) Judicial Watch, the not-for-profit law firm that first exposed Chinagate, Filegate, and is currently suing Hillary Clinton and Janet Reno on ethics charges, will present the first annual Truth Awards at its 5th anniversary gala on Oct. 23, in Pasadena, Calif. Winners of the Truth Awards were selected by a Judicial Watch panel of attorneys who expose and prosecute government corruption on behalf of American citizens. Award categories and winners include: Award for Courage: Johnny Chung, for his courage in telling the truth about Chinagate Award for Integrity in Journalism: Reed Irvine, for outstanding work through Accuracy in Media Award of Governmental Integrity: The Honorable Jerry Brown, for his commitment to honesty in government Dean of Radio Broadcasters: George Putnam, for his exceptional work in radio broadcasting Award for Excellence In Broadcast Journalism: Matt Drudge, for single-handedly revolutionizing news reporting Judicial Hall of Fame: The Honorable Clarence Thomas, for outstanding service as a member of the U.S. Supreme Court Judicial Hall of Shame: Judge Denny Chin, for his use of the "race card" Chung to Make First Public Speech Since Chinagate In his first public address since testifying in the Chinagate case, Johnny Chung will deliver the keynote address at the Judicial Watch gala, Oct. 23, at the Pasadena Hilton. Chung was a fundraiser for the Clinton/Gore campaigns and the Democratic National Committee (DNC). In a 1999 deposition with Judicial Watch, Chung testified that he raised illegal funds from the Chinese military and gave them to both the DNC and Hillary Clinton. The case continues with additional depositions. Some 400 participants are expected to attend the gala which is part of Judical Watch's 5th Anniversary Conference being held at the Pasadena Hilton Oct. 22 and 23. Conference activities will include a rally Friday night at Memorial Park Amphitheater featuring Judicial Watch founder and lead prosecutor Larry Klayman, along with organization president Tom Fitton. Judicial Watch is a public interest, not-for-profit law firm that exposes and prosecutes government corruption on behalf of American citizens. By utilizing the legal system, this politically independent watchdog group holds public officials personally accountable for abuse of government power. With a staff of 32 attorneys and others, and offices in Washington, D.C. and San Marino, California, Judicial Watch has prosecuted 42 lawsuits since 1994.
