Agency, Along With Clinton Administration, Derelict In Fighting Terrorism During 1990's Government Has Blood On Its Hands For Failure to Do Its Duty (Washington, D.C.) Judicial Watch, the public interest law firm that investigates and prosecutes government abuse and corruption, today watched, with horror, as yet another U.S. airliner exploded, apparently killing all passengers aboard. Given the current state of affairs, obviously terrorism cannot be ruled out. Yet, in an apparent attempt to deflect blame from its continuing dismal performance in protecting the American people, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) waited no more than one-half hour before it proudly announced that there is no evidence of terrorist activity. The present conduct of the FBI (which bears a large responsibility along with the previous Clinton administration for the current state of unpreparedness among government agencies to terrorist attacks) is consistent with its past cover your backside government mentality. This attitude effectively gave a green light to terrorists to attack the World Trade Center, Pentagon and U.S. mail system with anthrax. In short, the FBI does not want to see reality, but instead continues to paint a rosy picture of its performance, stated Judicial Watch Chairman and General Counsel Larry Klayman. Judicial Watch is investigating the FBI and other government agencies, such as the Federal Aviation Administration, Immigration and Naturalization Service, Department of Justice as a whole, Department of Health and Human Services and others who have failed to do their jobs by preparing and protecting the American people from terrorism. Given the current reality, unless proved otherwise government agencies should presume that this latest tragedy is the result of terrorism, and not continue to turn a blind eye from the threat that went unheeded for too long, he added. |
