Bush Administration “Drags Its Heels” in Producing Evidence of Clinton Criminality (Washington, DC) Judicial Watch, the public interest watchdog that investigates and prosecutes government abuse and corruption, has filed a lawsuit to obtain “Pardongate” documents implicating Bill and Hillary Clinton in criminal bribery and extortion schemes. The focus of the document request was correspondence from former Deputy Attorney General Eric Holder to the Clinton-Gore White House. Since Judicial Watch’s Freedom of Information Act request was not answered, it had no choice but to file suit against the Justice Department. Previous document requests also were not fully answered. “Given the Bush Administration’s position that Pardongate is not important and that the country should ‘move on,’ Judicial Watch had no choice but to file suit to obtain the documents,” stated Judicial Watch Chairman and General Counsel Larry Klayman. “It is regrettable that the Republican leadership has left it only to Judicial Watch to seek answers to and justice for the crimes committed in the ‘Pardongate’ scandal,” added Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton. A copy of the complaint will be posted at www.JudicialWatch.org. |
