MEDIA ADVISORY Janet Reno, Doris Meissner and Other Justice/INS Officials Sued for Civil Rights Violations Concerning Anti-Hispanic Prejudice And Obstruction of Justice Concerning Elian Gonzalez Raid PRESS CONFERENCE DATE: Tuesday, May 29, 2001 WHERE: Miami Federal Courthouse Steps 301 North Miami Avenue Miami, FL TIME: 12:00 NOON (Miami, FL) Judicial Watch, the public interest law firm that investigates and prosecutes government abuse and corruption, and attorney Don Appignani, today will file suit on behalf of Rick Ramirez, an INS Special Agent, who has come forward to reveal anti-Cuban/Hispanic prejudice and obstruction of justice in the INS Miami field office concerning the illegal raid on Elian Gonzalez� family�s home and neighborhood on April 22, 2000. Mr. Ramirez was retaliated against by the defendants and documents were destroyed in an attempt to silence his testimony. Mr. Ramirez is asking for in excess of $25 million dollars in damages. Judicial Watch is also prosecuting a $100 million dollar civil rights lawsuit brought by Donato Dalrymple and over 50 residents of Little Havana, who were gassed and beaten by Janet Reno�s agents on that fateful day.
